Atty. Joan Medalla is a highly accomplished legal and data privacy professional with extensive experience in data privacy, AI governance, appellate practice, and government procurement. She holds several certifications, including Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). Atty Joan has a robust academic background, with a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of the Philippines Diliman and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Ateneo de Manila University.

She was previously one of the Policy Advisors at the National Privacy Commission (NPC), where she developed enforcement policies for the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 and handled data privacy and cybersecurity cases.
